When Apollo 11 touched down on the surface of the Moon on 20 July 1969, it was also a giant leap for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Goodyear provided a number of essential components for this history-making mission and later supplied non-pneumatic tyres for the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle. The tyre maker is once again looking spacewards and is developing tyres for a lunar vehicle that in future may bring private enterprise to the Earth’s rocky satellite.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has opened the order books for prospective ID. Buzz owners in the UK and provided information about the tyres these all-electric campervans will wear. UK customers can choose from three trim levels: Life, Style and 1st Edition. Depending on model, they will receive either Continental or Hankook tyres as standard equipment.

Isuzu has factory equipped its D-MAX with General Grabber AT tyres since 2015, and the latest version of the pick-up continues this tradition. D-MAX LSE and V-Cross models wear the Grabber AT3 as standard in size 265/60 R18 110H.

SUVs are increasingly popular vehicles to drive and the most popular tyre sizes in the general SUV market are the same for all-season tyres since there are no replacement wheels involved.  

Hankook has adapted its Ventus S1 evo 3 for the specific requirements of two new electric Audi models, and is now suppling this tyre – the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 ev – as original equipment for the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron. Depending on model and equipment level, these compact SUVs will leave the factory on 19- to 21-inch tyres.

The Aston Martin DBX707’s engine generates 707 horsepower and 900Nm of torque, making it the world’s most powerful SUV. To use that power on the road, the model needs high-quality tyres. For its original tyres, Aston enlisted long-term partner Pirelli. The Italian manufacturer will supply specially tuned P Zero and Scorpion Zero All Season ultra-high performance tyres to the DBX707. Pirelli has supplied tyres to many previous Aston models, including the DBS, Vantage, and original DBX models. It is a leading tyre brand in the global performance and luxury car segment.
