Solid results in test of small family car tyres

Here at WhatTyre we don’t need to see daffodils in bloom to know warmer weather awaits – for us, the appearance of the season’s first tyre tests is evidence enough. Today we have two for you. Both come from European motoring clubs the ÖAMTC (Austria), ADAC (Germany) and TCS (Switzerland). Continental is offering free all-season tyre demonstrations this February half term. The German tyre manufacturer will offer the free demonstrations at Mercedes-Benz World. This is the first time Conti’s AllSeasonContact has been available for consumer experiences in the UK.

Co-op poll shows UK drivers unconvinced of winter tyre value

67 per cent of drivers don’t think winter tyres are worth it, according to an online poll conducted by Co-op Insurance on 25 January 2019. The Twitter poll recorded 4,084 votes. Despite much research showing that they perform better in low temperature concerned many motorists remain unconvinced about their value.

Young drivers are more familiar with emojis than tyre warning lights

Would you know when the TPMS light on your car is on? If the answer is no, you are not alone. Research conducted in the USA and commissioned by Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires found that while 88 per cent of young drivers can correctly identify the eye-roll emoji, only 51 per cent recognized the TPMS warning symbol.
