New research shows millions of Brits could benefit by switching to an electric vehicle – but a road safety expert warns many are still ‘silent killers’. More than four in five UK motorists – 34 million - could save cash and slash their carbon footprint with an electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid model, claims a new report by What Car?.

Aston Martin’s new DBX will be exclusively fitted with a range of three Pirelli tyres – the P Zero for the DBX, the Scorpion Zero AS and the Scorpion Winter. The news follows three years of joint development work that began with laboratory testing before moving on to outdoor testing in varied conditions.

With more than 300 laws in the highway code, it is likely that some drivers may be breaking the law without knowing it, a new survey by Click4reg.co.uk suggests. The website quizzed 2,192 British drivers on some of the more unusual rules of the road, with some surprising results.

Punctures are nothing new, of course. But what is new is that the vast majority of cars sold in the UK since 2012 do not have a spare wheel fitted. Illegal, defective or under-inflated tyres caused 2,288 British car accidents between 2014 and 2018. Marking Road Safety Week (18-24 November), British technology firm and Michelin licensee Fit2Go TPMS reckons its Michelin Pressure Checker gadget could help to significantly cut those figures.
