Pirelli Cinturato Winter

205/55 R16 94H
Pirelli's Cinturato Winter is the manufacturer's winter tyre for mass-market vehicles, with some crossover into the SUV segment. Launching the tyre in 2016, the manufacturer said it had tuned the tyre to offer lower noise and appeal to electric and hybrid car drivers. As well as cutting noise, the Cinturato Winter’s tread pattern helps to sweep snow towards the inside of the tread. Due to the friction properties of snow on snow, this helps to maximise stability and traction when braking. When snow turns to water, the tyre benefits from a Water Escape Accelerator: an arrow-shaped layout designed to help water flow rapidly through the tread grooves. Pirelli said the tyre improved water expulsion by 76% over its predecessor. The Cinturato Winter tread bristles with Multiactive 4D Sipe Technology. The form of the directional sipes (which appear as small "cuts" in the tread blocks) varies according to the driving requirements at the time. They are designed to line up in the same direction to maximise the traction and braking on demand. The sipes are present in a greater density than in past tyres, and this works to maximise traction.
