Better alternative – Auto Bild Sportscars tests all-season tyres

Auto Bild Sportscars argues there is no alternative to “genuine summer tyres” for those wanting “to get the best possible performance out of a sports car on the asphalt,” at least in the warmer months of the year. But UK summers are a fleeting phenomenon, and tyres that deliver top performance in warm weather can struggle on winter roads. All-season tyres offer a practical alternative; the performance motoring publication has tested ten products in 225/45 R18.

Promobil compares tyres for van-based campers

Not all campervans are ponderous wheeled boxes that slow traffic. Van-based vehicles such as VW’s facelifted Transporter 6.1 deliver driving dynamics approaching those of saloons and SUVs – and demand tyres that are up to the job. Specialist publication Promobil put the new VW T6.1 through its paces fitted with eight brands of size 235/55 R17 tyre – all reinforced ‘C’ (for commercial) models – and found a clear winner.

Pirelli launching Cinturato Winter 2
