Better alternative – Auto Bild Sportscars tests all-season tyres

Auto Bild Sportscars argues there is no alternative to “genuine summer tyres” for those wanting “to get the best possible performance out of a sports car on the asphalt,” at least in the warmer months of the year. But UK summers are a fleeting phenomenon, and tyres that deliver top performance in warm weather can struggle on winter roads. All-season tyres offer a practical alternative; the performance motoring publication has tested ten products in 225/45 R18.

Half of drivers buy tyres without knowing key details

A recent survey by Apollo Tyres Ltd reveals that 45% of UK drivers purchase new tyres without understanding tyre labels, which provide critical information on safety and performance. These labels, similar to those on household appliances, rate tyres on wet grip, fuel efficiency, and noise levels. Despite EU regulations since 2012—and stricter rules introduced in 2021—requiring retailers to share this data, only 16% of UK motorists were informed about tyre labels during their last purchase, the lowest among eight European countries surveyed (average 34%).

Bespoke Pirelli tyres for Porsche 911 GTS

Pirelli has extended its original equipment supply to the Porsche 911 range with a tyre for the very first hybrid-powered variant, the Porsche 911 GTS. The Italian tyre brand has developed a bespoke version of the P Zero R for this latest model, a tyre that “balances sportiness with everyday usability.” It has also created a winter tyre option, the P Zero Winter 2.

Kumho – Test result demonstrates commitment to exceptional tyres

In March 2025 we shared the results of the 225/40 ZR18 tyre test from Die Reifentester, an experienced team of journalists and tyre developers based in Germany. Hankook iON Evo wins Auto Bild electric vehicle tyre test

Auto Bild has made the Hankook iON Evo the top product in its electric vehicle test. The winner of the 2024 WhatTyre Tyre of the Year and Electric Car Tyre of the Year impressed the German motoring magazine’s testers with its all-round abilities, notably matching Continental’s PremiumContact 7 at the top of the table in wet performance. All eight tyres were tested in size 215/55R18 99V/Y.
