Halfords has reached a landmark in its garage modernisation programme with the opening of its 100th upgraded “new-look” site in Ashington, Northumberland. The garage, at Lintonville Terrace, Ashington NE63 9UN, is the latest to adopt the retailer’s Fusion format, aimed at making routine maintenance and repair bookings quicker and more convenient for motorists.
Fusion sites are designed to increase workshop capacity while refreshing customer-facing environments and upgrading equipment. A key feature is investment in colleagues, with dedicated Customer and Workshop Managers introduced at each upgraded garage to improve workflow, communication and the speed at which customer queries are resolved.
Halfords said the rollout has consistently raised staffing levels, including the addition of a Workshop Manager role at upgraded locations, supporting operational efficiency and customer service. The business added that the programme is creating more skilled roles and supporting local employment as sites are converted.
Adam Pay, managing director of garages at Halfords, said: “We’re proud to be bringing our 100th upgraded garage to Ashington – this milestone reflects our ambition to transform the car care experience across the UK. These new-look sites are about delivering speed, convenience and reassurance for customers, backed by a brilliant team of experts and a refreshed environment that puts service first.”
To mark the milestone, Halfords is running local launch promotions at the Ashington garage, including:
- 10 customers to win back the value of their invoice
- Free goody bags for the first 100 customers
- £50 off a full or major service
- Up to 20% off premium tyres when buying two or more
The 100-site milestone is a key step in Halfords’ wider strategy to modernise car care through investment in people, infrastructure and the end-to-end customer experience, with an emphasis on transparency, convenience and faster turnaround times.
