Hankook has adapted its Ventus S1 evo 3 for the specific requirements of two new electric Audi models, and is now suppling this tyre – the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 ev – as original equipment for the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron. Depending on model and equipment level, these compact SUVs will leave the factory on 19- to 21-inch tyres.
To meet the specific demands posed by electric mobility, Hankook’s engineers equipped the Ventus S1 evo 3 ev with a double-layer casing made of a specially developed high-performance fibre. According to Hankook, this offers very high stability and ensures a low tare weight for the tyre relative to its size. It also tailored the tyre’s tread compound to accommodate very high levels of torque.
An additional steel-based reinforcement is present in the bead area of the 20- and 21-inch versions of the tyre, which have a reduced flank height, to further increase sidewall rigidity. As well as ensuring the tyre fits the rim precisely, Hankook says this also results in more sporty and immediate steering response.
Hankook Sealguard sealing material is standard on the 20- and 21‑inch tyres and automatically seals punctures up to 5mm in diameter in the tyre tread surface. Sealguard offers the advantage of being able to continue the journey without delays and removed the need to carry a heavy spare wheel. Hankook points out that Sealguard does not compromise on driving comfort, as the tyre’s basic construction does not differ from those without the sealant.
