Halfords’ Tyre Safety video game, 20,000 Miles in Two Minutes has now been played over 7,000 times, revealing that many drivers lacked basic safety knowledge. But what did it reveal about basic safety knowledge amongst the UK driving public?

Launched in June, the Halfords Garage of the Year competition has attracted hundreds of entries. A shortlist of 20 has now been selected. The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Halfords Garage of the Year Competition 2021 launches today (7 June 2021) and represents a hunt for “the UK’s most outstanding garage”. As part of their partnership with British Touring Car Championship Team, Halfords Racing with Cataclean, Halfords is calling for submissions to find the most amazing home garages the UK public have to offer.

A poll commissioned by Halfords has found that 6.5 million cars are being driven with faulty wiper blades. The data based on a OnePoll survey of 2,000 motorists found that 20 per cent don’t know when their wiper blade needs to be changed, while 15 per cent were worried about driving in the rain and cited it as a reason that they put off driving during the autumn and winter months.

Halfords Autocentres will now collect and drop off your car for servicing and MOT bookings. The service is available within five miles of the 215 selected Autocentres – see full list below this article. Halfords is charging £19.99 for the service. The autocentre chain explained that customers must book the service over the phone and ensure their vehicle is parked in a suitable location.

Halfords Autocentres is offering free MOTs with every interim, full or major service booked, to ensure “vehicles that still need to be on the road are safe to drive during this challenging period”, according to the company.

Halfords is offering its Ten Point Car Check to all NHS frontline workers during the Coronavirus pandemic. The check, fo which Halfords normally charges £15, includes top-ups of tyre inflation, screen wash and checks on oil levels, headlights and brake lights.
