Porsche chooses Falken Azenis FK520 for Cayenne Electric

Falken has engineered a custom version of its Azenis FK520 tyre for factory-fit on the all-new Porsche Cayenne Electric. The electric performance SUV wears the Azenis FK520 in 255/55 R20 110Y XL on the front axle and 305/45 R20 116Y XL tyres on the rear. Both dimensions feature the ‘NG0’ sidewall logo, a designation reserved for tyres specifically developed, homologated and approved to meet Porsche’s exact requirements.

Falken says it developed the UHP tyre specifically for the Cayenne Electric. Its staggered fitment aims to support the vehicle’s chassis characteristics, with a focus on agility, traction and driving stability.

The tyre features a rubber compound designed to lower rolling resistance, which Falken says may contribute to vehicle range depending on driving conditions. It is also intended to provide steering precision and high-speed stability. With a Y speed rating, the Azenis FK520 (NG0) is approved for speeds of up to 300km/h.

Falken adds that the tyre’s construction is designed to support traction and torque transfer in a vehicle segment that combines high output with considerable vehicle mass. The company says the tailored architecture can support performance and efficiency under demanding driving conditions.

Christian Stolting, OE Sales Director at Dunlop Tyre Europe GmbH, home to the Falken tyre brand, said: “With the Azenis FK520 (NG0), Falken underlines its expertise in developing innovative tyre technologies for the next generation of premium electric vehicles. This is the latest development in our long-term partnership with Porsche, and means we continue to strategically positioning ourselves as the first choice in the high-performance battery-electric SUV segment.”

Long-term Porsche collaboration

Falken and Porsche’s relationship extends to motorsport. Since 2011, Falken has competed with Porsche 911 GT3 R cars fitted with its racing tyres in the ADAC Ravenol Nürburgring Endurance Series and at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The blue-and-green Falken Porsche has become a recognisable presence at the circuit.

The companies have also previously collaborated on road-car fitments. Falken received original equipment approval for its Azenis FK510 tyre on the Porsche Macan in 2019.

Falken says its tyres are developed and manufactured to defined quality standards. The company offers a five-year warranty on tyres fitted as original equipment or supplied by authorised Falken partners, subject to the applicable warranty terms and conditions.
