Goodyear has expanded its UltraGrip Performance 3 winter tyre range, giving more drivers access to the company’s latest cold-weather tyre technology. The range now covers 344 sizes, following the addition of 66 new references, and Goodyear says this gives it the widest European winter coverage available from a single tread pattern.
For consumers, the expansion matters because tyre choice can become more limited as cars move to larger wheels, heavier electric powertrains and more specialised manufacturer-approved fitments. More than 90 per cent of the new UltraGrip Performance 3 additions are for 19-inch wheels and above, while the complete range now spans 14 to 23 inches. That means the tyre is available for everything from smaller cars to SUVs, premium models and electric vehicles.
The new coverage includes replacement sizes for models such as the Volvo EX60, BMW X3 M50, Lucid Gravity, Škoda Elroq RS, Audi A6 e-tron and Polestar 5, as well as original equipment fitments for vehicles including the BMW iX3, Porsche Cayenne Electric and Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ.
Performance is also central to Goodyear’s message. UltraGrip Performance 3 has taken first place in the ADAC winter tyre test in both 2024 and 2025, with the 2025 test covering 31 tyres in size 225/40 R18. The tyre was also recognised in that test for a predicted mileage of 76,500 kilometres.
Goodyear says the tyre is engineered to deliver braking and handling performance across snow, wet and dry winter roads. Its Snow Protect Technology is designed to support grip on snow, while Wet Grip+ Technology targets control and braking on wet roads. For electric vehicle drivers, Goodyear also points to lower rolling resistance and reduced interior noise compared with the previous UltraGrip Performance+.
The takeaway for drivers is that the UltraGrip Performance 3 is now easier to find across a broader range of vehicles, while retaining a consistent performance story. If you are choosing winter tyres for a modern SUV, EV or performance car, checking the correct approved size and specification remains essential.
