Porsche has approved several bespoke versions of Pirelli’s ultra-high performance tyres as original fitments for the new Porsche Cayenne. The latest facelift of the sports SUV extends the collaboration between Pirelli and Porsche: Pirelli has equipped tyres to every generation of the Cayenne since the original model’s launch in 2002. The Pirelli P Zero, P Zero Corsa, and Scorpion Winter 2 tyres have received the approval, covering the entire range of wheel sizes from 20 to 22 inches. Scorpion Zero All Season tyres are also available for some markets, in every size.
The Cayenne version of the Pirelli P Zero meets Porsche’s specifications for drivability, steering precision, stability, and safety even during emergency manoeuvres. Pirelli says the tyre has been designed to support the high torque and loads generated by the vehicle. All sizes are rated A on the European label for wet braking.
The Pirelli P Zero Corsa is specified for Cayenne owners needing sports and track driving capabilities, derived from the P Zero Corsa that helped the Porsche Cayenne GT to set a record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2021. Like that version, this P Zero Corsa is made with tread compounds derived from motorsport, developed by Pirelli to equip the fastest cars in the world.
The new Porsche Cayenne is one of the first vehicles to receive a specific Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 tyre approved for the winter season, covering the entire range of wheel sizes. The challenge faced by Pirelli’s engineers throughout the development of the winter tyres was demanding: to ensure safety at low temperatures and on snow, while maintaining very high performance on dry and wet surfaces. All with the same sporting DNA that Porsche expects from a summer tyre. To achieve this result, Pirelli’s R&D department created a dedicated winter compound, capable of providing driving comfort as well as tangible grip in extreme conditions.
Pirelli has been a feature of the Cayenne since the very first generation was launched in 2002, pioneering the sports SUV segment. From the first model to the present day, Pirelli has always worked alongside the Stuttgart-based manufacturer to develop tyres that follow the evolution of its models, such as the Cayenne S Hybrid – the first hybrid in the Porsche range – then the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid (a plug-in hybrid version), right up to the current Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid: the most powerful Cayenne ever introduced alongside the traditional powertrain facelift.
