You might think of Bridgestone or Michelin when it comes to tyres, but guess what? Lego actually churns out more tyres by volume than anyone else! And now, they’re hitting the road to sustainability by making tyres from recycled fishing nets, old ropes, and even used engine oil.

Kumho Tire has debuted Ecsta Sport and Ecsta Sport S as successors to the Ecsta PS91 and PS71. It says the newcomers build on the strengths of the predecessors, with the Sport S sitting a rung higher on the performance ladder. Kumho bills this as a “super sport tyre.”

Just as Henry Ford said customers could have his model T in any colour as long as it was black, the VW ID.7 can wear any 21-inch tyre you want – but only the Continental EcoContact 7 S is factory approved. Volkswagen has selected this as exclusive 21-inch original equipment fitment for its new, all-electric model in markets all around the world. Continental is supplying the tyre in 235/40 R21 98H XL and 265/35 R21 101H XL; both dimensions feature the ContiSeal puncture solution.

For its 2025 summer test, motoring publication Autozeitung has looked at ten models of UHP tyre in size 225/45 R18 95Y. Fitting these to a Skoda Octavia 1.5 TSI, the Autozeitung test team evaluated each brand in wet and dry conditions, awarding a maximum of 150 points per category.

Larger rims and tyres can significantly enhance a vehicle’s appearance. For compact cars, selecting the 225/40 R 18 tyre size provides both good looks and the promise of improved performance. European motoring organisation ADAC selected this dimension for its 2025 summer tyre test, evaluating 18 premium, mid-range and budget products.

A further 54 size options have entered the Vredestein Ultrac Pro line-up, boosting the number of dimensions available in the UK to 60. Manufacturer Apollo Tyres has extended the ultra-ultra-high-performance (UUHP) summer tyre range further into 18- to 22-inch rim diameter territory, complementing existing options for rims up to 24-inches.
