Anyone who works with tyres will eventually find themselves glancing at the wheels of parked cars when walking down the street. This occupational hazard is one that is best kept secret from loved ones, but at least it keeps the protagonist up to date with the latest products.
One thing the trained and possibly obsessed eye may observe is that Nexen now offers yet another UHP tyre. After introducing the N’Fera Sport last year, drivers can now plump for the Nexen N’Fera Primus.
The casual tyrespotter may struggle to tell the difference. The tread pattern of both tyres is asymmetrical. Each has four grooves for removing water from the contact patch, reducing the risk of aquaplaning. Yet a closer inspection of the pattern, tyre width and aspect ratio singles the N’Fera Sport out as the sportier tyre of the two.
The N’Fera Sport comes in 20 sizes for 17- to 20-inch rim diameters, widths of 225mm to 265mm and 50 to 35 aspect ratios. In comparison, the N’Fera Primus begins at 16-inch – small family car territory – and only goes up to 18-inch. The 32 dimensions in the Primus line are also narrower and feature higher aspect ratios – 185mm to 245mm and 55 to 40 respectively.
Nexen Tire says it developed the N’Fera Primus for drivers of small to medium-sized cars who want comfort, smooth running and mileage, as well as safety features.
