The new Laufenn S Fit 2, which recently debuted in the aftermarket, is an original equipment tyre on the new Škoda Octavia, The Czech car maker’s highest-volume model. The Octavia will wear the Laufenn tyre in size 205/55 R17 91 V. Announcing this original equipment tyre fitment deal for the Octavia, Hankook Tire says this “successful partnership with the Czech car manufacturer” underlines the “impressive development” of the Laufenn brand over the past ten year and “forms the basis for further original equipment projects.”
According to the tyre maker, the development focus for this original equipment tyre was on making an “impressive all-rounder with no notable weaknesses.” Safety-related characteristics are particularly important in this respect, it adds. Very good wet grip is therefore essential for the S Fit 2, and the development team adapted the tyre’s structure to ensure short braking distances, even on wet roads, thanks to a high silica content and convex tread blocks. Reinforced tyre shoulders and the precisely matched compound guarantee stable handling, even when driving the Octavia in a sporty manner and with a full load.
In full accordance with the specifications, the developers of the Laufenn tyre paid attention to reducing rolling noise in order to increase driving comfort while also minimising noise emissions. Hankook Tire notes that the S Fit 2 also offers impressive rolling resistance, contributing to an improvement in fuel efficiency. The new polymer technology ensures much higher wear resistance, with higher mileage meaning lower life cycle costs for vehicle owners.
