In March 2025 we shared the results of the 225/40 ZR18 tyre test from Die Reifentester (The Tyre Testers), an experienced team of journalists and tyre developers based in Germany. Three tyres gained the highest rating of ‘very good’, one of these being a newcomer from Kumho. The recently launched Ecsta Sport excelled across the board in its inaugural tyre test appearance.
The Ecsta Sport particularly impressed the testers with its performance in the wet, stopping in 23.07 metres from 80 km/h, a better result than that achieved by any other of the eight tested tyres. Furthermore, the Kumho tyre was one of just two tyres to record a ‘very good’ result in wet handling (the other being the Continental SportContact 7). The team from Die Reifentester also found the Ecsta Sport’s dry handling impressive and gave the tyre, along with three premium brands, a ‘very good’ verdict in this part of the test.
On the right course
“We are delighted with this result from Die Reifentester,” comments Matthias Bode, Head of Research and Development Europe at Kumho Tire. “Kumho Ecsta Sport is designed to offer excellent performance for all motorists, including the most demanding drivers, and this test result is an excellent indication that we are on the right course.”
“This test result demonstrates the commitment of Kumho to developing and producing exceptional tyres which offer excellent value to the driving public,” adds Head of Europe – Tony Gangseung Lee. “I am delighted to see the team’s hard work being so well rewarded in this independent tyre test as we set new performance benchmarks.”
