GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport winter tyre offers 15% ice handling improvements

The GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport winter tyre will launch for the 2020/21 winter season in nine 17-19” sizes. Its manufacturer, Giti Tire, has designed the tyre for high powered passenger cars and premium SUVs. The new tyre is certified with the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol, meaning it is legal in countries that require winter tyre fitments. It will be available initially in nine sizes. These will be for 17-19” rims, 215-235 section widths, and 40-65 profiles.

The tyre’s directional tread is designed in the shape of a scimitar. Its sharp edges improve grip on snow and wet roads. Large shoulder blocks and T-bars increase its stability and precision at high speeds.

The tyre tread will also shift water quickly. Its ultra-wide grooves improve braking on wet roads. Its deep traction sipes – small cuts across the tread blocks –  also increase snow traction and braking. They bite into the snow as the tyre rotates, increasing the amount of friction it generates.

The GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport has a compound, profile, and construction tuned to reduce rolling resistance too. This improves fuel efficiency without compromising on driving safety.

15% better than GT Radial Champiro Winterpro HP

Giti developed the GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport to improve the best properties of the Champiro Winterpro HP. It offers 15 per cent better traction and handling on icy roads. On snow, traction, braking, and handling are 10-15 per cent better. But the tyre also improves braking and handling on cold, wet roads, with 7 per cent imrpovements.

The GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport is originally available in nine sizes. These include six like-for-like replacements of its GT Radial Champiro Winterpro HP and three more popular sizes. GT Radial now covers 39 of the top 42 sizes across passenger car and SUV dimensions, covering 70 per cent of the total market.

The GT Radial WinterPro2 Sport was designed and engineered by Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany.
