A “formidable special edition model” is joining the BMW M product range in 2023, an “exclusive high-performance car that combines supreme dynamic prowess with the everyday usability of an M3 saloon.” BMW (UK) tells us that the BMW M3 CS will arrive with “track tyres as standard.” While it doesn’t name this original equipment tyre, accompanying photos show it to be the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, a tyre WhatTyre ranked Highly Recommended in its Best Supersports Tyres of 2022.
BMW says the 19-inch front and 20-inch rear tyres are “purpose-developed” for this special-edition model. Publicity photos of the BMW M3 CS show it wearing the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S in 275/35 ZR19 and 285/30 ZR20 at the front and rear respectively. BMW mounts these on forged M light-alloy wheels in an exclusive V-spoke design with a gold bronze finish or an optional matt black finish.
The new BMW M3 CS teams a 550 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. These combine to deliver a 0 to 62 mph time of 3.4 seconds and on to an electronically limited 188 mph top speed. BMW will build the car in a limited run at its Munich plant, with the UK market launch commencing in March 2023. Prices will start from £115,900 RRP. Along with the UK, BMW considers the USA, Germany, and Japan the most important markets for this new model.
