Established on 12 July 1986, Silverstone currently manufactures tyres for (primarily Malaysian) new vehicles and Silverstone branded tyres for the global aftermarket as well as certain Toyo branded tyres. However, on 15 February 2021, Japanese tyre-maker Toyo (which owns the operation) announced that it is closing the Silverstone subsidiary (Silverstone Berhad) by 31 December 2021. According to Toyo, production of certain Silverstone brand products previously manufactured at the Silverstone factory will be transferred to its Toyo Tire Malaysia operation and production and supply will continue.
