Having cut its teeth scrabbling over rocky trails in North America, the Yokohama Geolandar X-MT is ready for off-road action this side of the pond. The 4×4/SUV range will go on sale in markets across Europe this spring.
The new tyre is a close relative of the Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003, which was introduced last year. Yokohama describes the X-MT as a “more hobby-oriented” version of this tyre. Off-road traction, including on rocky trails, is “superior”.
Large shoulder blocks on the tread enhance driving performance on rough surfaces and give the Geolandar M/T G003 a more aggressive appearance. The tread pattern is inspired by rocky surfaces; Yokohama says this pattern isn’t just good off-road – it also minimises off-road tyre noise.
Six Geolandar X-MT sizes will be available in a range covering 35×12.50R20 LT 121Q to 7.00R16C 108/106N.
