Yokohama G.T. Special Classic – modern tyre tech for older cars

Pristine examples of the 240Z, RA28/TA28 Celica and the like fetch top whack these days, and fastidious owners daren’t overlook the tyres in their quest to maintain their pride and joy in original condition. A new replacement tyre from Yokohama may help here – from this summer, the Yokohama G.T. Special Classic will be available in three sizes – 165/80R15 87H, 175/80R14 88S and 165/80R14 85S.

Based upon a classic car tyre sold in Japan for a number of years, the Yokohama G.T. Special Classic looks the part with its period tread and sidewall design. Its name pays homage to the very first Yokohama tyre with radial construction, the 1967-launched G.T. Special. But the tyre’s retro charms are only skin deep, for underneath lie the latest Yokohama tyre technologies. Yokohama says the tyre “delivers a soft, comfortable ride without losing the feel of a historical car.”
