Worldwide, Bridgestone Corporation is involved with one single tyre joint venture, its partnership with Turkey’s Sabanci Holding. Named Brisa, this venture operates plants in Izmit and Aksaray and produces passenger car tyres under the Bridgestone and Lassa brand names. The Brisa footprint also includes a R&D centre that delivers around 120 new products a year. One of these is the Lassa Revola, a summer comfort tyre that’ll be no stranger to anyone familiar with the Bridgestone Turanza T005.
Applying a strategy similar to major vehicle manufacturers that share platforms amongst their brands, Brisa has utilised the Bridgestone pattern for its latest product. But the team at Lassa cautions against jumping to conclusions – the Lassa Revola is not merely a copy of the Turanza T005. Thanks to the use of newly developed compounds, the tyre delivers performance that we’re told takes it beyond the product that served as inspiration as well as its predecessor, the Lassa Driveways.
This enhanced performance is reflected in the tyre’s EU label ratings, with the entire Revola range earning an ‘A’ rating for wet grip. Overall wet braking distances are shorter than those of its predecessor, with internal testing showing that the Revola outperformed the Driveways by 15 per cent in wet braking and by more than ten per cent in dry braking. The tyre also shows generational progress in lateral wet grip and aquaplaning resistance.
EV-ready & NextGen
A sidewall marking indicates the Revola’s suitability for electric and hybrid vehicles, although Lassa stresses that it is equally designed for cars with conventional combustion engines. Another sidewall symbol denotes the presence of NextGen technology, which serves a similar purpose for Lassa as Enliten technology does for Bridgestone.
According to Lassa, “NextGen technology is a set of innovations aimed at developing tyres that promote sustainability without compromising quality, safety, and performance.” NextGen reduces tyre weight by up to 20 per cent, which decreases rolling resistance and extends battery life in electric vehicles. This weight reduction, combined with longer wear life, significantly lowers CO2 emissions. The Lassa Revola can deliver up to a five per cent improvement in fuel efficiency, making it an economical choice for drivers interested in reducing both operating costs and environmental impact.
Brisa offers the Lassa Revola in 36 sizes, suitable for rim diameters from 15 to 18 inches.
