New Renault Clio comes with Continental tyres as standard

Across numerous countries, drivers collecting their brand-new Renault Clio will see it is already running on Continental EcoContact 7 tyres. These come in 16-inch and 18-inch sizes and have earned some of the best ratings on the EU tyre label for fuel efficiency and low road noise.

According to Continental, the EcoContact 7’s high energy efficiency is due to a new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology. This technology uses new materials in the tyre’s casing, liner and sidewall to reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance. Additionally, the tyre’s aerodynamically optimized sidewall design enhances efficiency. Continental has combined several technologies to achieve this, including the “aerodimple” structure borrowed from golf balls. Dimples in the sidewall reduce air turbulence behind the tyre, meaning the vehicle requires less energy to keep the tyre moving.

The exact tyres you’ll get on your new Clio are:

195/60 R16 93H XL EcoContact 7 (with FR rim protection)

and 205/45 R18 90H XL EcoContact 7 (with FR rim protection)
