Goodyear has launched the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 – the firm’s latest UHP tyre. Goodyear calls it “the ultimate all-rounder” and explains that the tyre uses new braking technology. This allows the tyre to offer 4 per cent shorter stopping distances compared to the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3.
In case you were wondering, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric is the 5’s predecessor because there isn’t an Asymmetric 4. According to those in the know, Goodyear made the decision to go straight to number 5 because some in the Far Eastern markets consider 4 to be an unlucky number.
Goodyear says it will introduce 51 sizes between February and May 2019. Another 10 are arriving between June and December 2019.
The firm will offer the tyres in 17 to 22-inch diameters.
The new product is intended for cars from the Volkswagen Golf right up to the Mercedes C-Class and the BMW 3 series as well as the standard versions of the Porsche 911.
