Lancia concept car wears Goodyear tyres

Customisation, aerodynamics, and design – for Goodyear, these qualities “lie at the heart” of its collaboration with the reborn Lancia brand. Goodyear was the manufacturer of choice to produce a bespoke tyre for the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept car, the first vehicle of the new Lancia era and a full-electric car that “represents the vision of the brand in terms of design, interior home feeling, sustainability, electrification and technology.”

The concept tyre Goodyear developed for the vehicle includes a customised sidewall design which provides a “seamless integration” of the car’s rim with the tyre, adding to the “luxurious and premium look of the concept vehicle.” Beyond aesthetics, Goodyear says the sidewall “provides a very high aerodynamic performance level, enhancing energy efficiency” and the tyre maker used a specific construction to withstand instant electric car torque.

Moment of glory

“This year Goodyear celebrates its 125th anniversary, so this is a fantastic moment to partner with Lancia for the re-birth of their iconic brand, bringing two pioneers of the automotive world back together in a moment of glory,” comments Laurent Colantonio, Goodyear senior director Technology Consumer EMEA. “We are thrilled to have worked on this concept tyre which made us think outside of the box regarding customisation, aerodynamics, and design.

“It was essential to marry our technical expertise with Lancia’s so we could produce a seamless tyre and rim combination which enhanced energy efficiency while remaining aesthetically pleasing.”
