Pubs, shops and restaurants might be closed, but frontline services still have to get to work and for that any vehicle needs tyres. That’s why despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlining strict stay-at-home measures for the whole of the UK, garages are allowed to remain open.
The UK policy is in line with practice in Italy, a country that has already experienced lockdown for a month, and advice from the USA. In both cases, automotive garages were deemed to be critical exceptions to lockdown restrictions.
So if you need to get to work at the hospital, supermarket or one of the other key-worker roles, don’t worry there is help on hand to keep your motor going.
