Pirelli is supplying original equipment tyres for the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition, the fastest and most powerful version of the all-electric SUV. A technical collaboration between the vehicle manufacturer and tyre maker has resulted in a tailored version of the P Zero, which the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition will wear in size 245/45R20 103Y XL. The tyre features the ‘Elect’ marking on the sidewall, which denotes Pirelli tyres dedicated to electric and hybrid vehicles.
Tyres with ‘Elect’ marking can offer a number of advantages thanks to the technical specifications of their compounds and structure. They offer low rolling resistance to increase driving range, reduced noise levels to improve driving comfort, immediate grip to cope with the instant torque generated by electric motors, and a specific structure to support the weight of a battery-powered vehicle.
When creating original equipment P Zero tyres for the Mach-E GT Performance Edition, Pirelli says its engineers “put the accent on performance, as well as the highest standards of driveability and comfort.” They developed according to the tyre maker’s perfect fit strategy, whose remit is to create a tyre that best accommodates the car’s specific requirements. In this instance, perfect fit allows drivers to “fully enjoy the performance of the all-wheel drive machine equipped with two electric motors.”
In June 2021, Continental announced Ford’s approval of its PremiumContact 6 for the Mustang Mach-E. Customers in Europe can select this tyre in sizes 225/60/R18 104V XL or 225/55/R19 103V XL.
