Top Cat famously lived in a dustbin, but none of his feline gang ever chose to set up digs within a rolling road brake tester. But this is precisely the new home that one kitten decided upon. Elite Garages shares the story of a memorable encounter for the team at its Maidstone centre.
During what was supposed to be a routine MOT, mechanics were startled by an unusual sound echoing through the workshop. Used to the usual noise of engines, the team was puzzled – this sound was… a meow?
Curious and a little bemused, the team set out to investigate, following the faint cries through the bay. Eventually, they pinpointed the source near the rolling road brake tester. The meows grew louder as they approached, and, peering in, they discovered the cause: a tiny kitten, wedged between the rollers and letting them know she was ready to be found.
After some careful manoeuvring, the team managed to free the little adventurer, unharmed but likely wondering how she’d ended up in such a place. They captured the touching rescue on video and shared it on social media. The video instantly took off, gathering 200,000 views and a stream of likes and comments. Followers joined in the fun, suggesting names for the kitten inspired by her automotive adventure, with Diesel, Sparky, and Turbo among the most popular.
After the rescue, Elite Garages made sure to get the kitten checked by a vet. The vet not only gave her a clean bill of health and her first vaccinations, but also – captivated by her charm – offered to give her a forever home.
Now safe, healthy, and possibly with a new name, the kitten has won the hearts of everyone at Elite Garages, especially the mechanics who first heard her tiny “meow.”
