Chinese car maker Zeekr has selected Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres as an original equipment fitment for the Zeekr 001. The electric saloon will leave the factory equipped with the Continental tyre in size 265/40 R22 106V XL FR. By choosing Continental, Zeekr joins a growing number of vehicle manufacturers within the region. The tyre maker tells us that in Asia-Pacific, nine of the ten highest-volume manufacturers of all-electric vehicles currently fit on Continental tyres as original equipment.
Reporting its selection as a factory-fitted tyre for the Zeekr 001, Continental comments that it has optimised the PremiumContact 6 to ensure control and high cornering stability at higher speeds while providing excellent grip performance that ensures effective power transfer to the asphalt. “The design of the tread allows for a quick response as well as precise steering. The special silica rubber compound is designed for safe driving in all weather conditions, ensuring excellent safety and braking performance on both wet and dry roads. In addition, the low rolling resistance helps to increase the battery range of the Zeekr 001. The tyre offers short braking distances, precise handling and good safety properties even on wet road surfaces,” says Continental.
Continental adds that its tyre development focused upon low rolling resistance, low rolling noise and high mileage. Furthermore, an increased load index guarantees that the PremiumContact 6 can cope with the higher weight of electric vehicles resulting from the battery.
