Bridgestone has introduced two tyre safety initiatives as part of its “Stay Safe This Autumn” campaign, aligning with Tyre Safety Month. The campaign aims to raise awareness about tyre maintenance and reward responsible drivers. As part of the initiative, motorists who purchase two or more Bridgestone tyres in October or November will receive a complimentary winter safety bundle. This includes essential items such as a tread depth gauge, ice scraper, and a locking wheel nut bag to help drivers maintain their vehicles during colder months. The campaign responds to alarming findings from a survey of 2,000 UK motorists, which revealed that 63% delay tyre replacement until their vehicle fails its MOT, 23% never consider the risks of worn tyres, and 11% wait until their tyres are completely bald. Additionally, 35% of drivers delay replacing tyres due to cost, reflecting the impact of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis on road safety decisions.
Bridgestone’s UK Director of Consumer Product Sales, Drew Chapman, emphasized the importance of regular tyre checks, especially as daylight hours shorten in autumn. He highlighted that tyres are the only contact point between a vehicle and the road, and neglecting them can significantly increase accident risks.
To combat these issues, Bridgestone’s “Be a Road Safety Hero” campaign has already provided over 4,500 free tyre inspections across the UK. The company encourages drivers to follow three key steps: inspect tyres regularly, understand legal tread depth requirements, and seek expert advice when in doubt.
In addition to the safety bundle, customers are automatically entered into a prize draw to win one of two £5,000 cash prizes. The campaign supports Bridgestone’s global E8 Commitment, promoting safety, ease, and sustainable mobility for all.
