Yokohama previews Geolandar A/T4

Yokohama Europe previewed its latest 4x4 tyre, the Geolandar A/T4, alongside the Geolandar CV S4 all-season SUV tyre in the snow of the Swedish Arctic at the start of March. The event also showcased the rest of the company’s western European and Nordic friction winter tyre range and gave an update on the European business’s strong growth and continued plans for a European tyre manufacturing facility.

Yokohama introduces Geolandar CV 4S all-season SUV tyre

Yokohama has introduced the Geolandar CV 4S all-season tyre for crossover SUVs. Tyres for SUVs need to be able to take on all road types and all weather conditions, like arid dryness, rainy spells and challenging snow. Yokohama says the new tyre recognises this demand for versatility and practicality. Following the launch of the “innovative” Geolandar CV 4S in October, the tyre will make its debut in the UK and Europe with a range of 32 sizes, for rim sizes between 17” and 20”.

Bridgestone & Yokohama tyres for Mazda’s first PHEV

Mazda is introducing its first plug-in hybrid, the “crafted in Japan” CX-60, and UK customers will receive their crossover with Bridgestone or Yokohama tyres as standard. Depending on specification, Mazda will equip the CX-60 with either Yokohama Advan V61 tyres in size 235/60R18 103V or the Bridgestone Alenza 001 in 235/50 R20 100W.

Yokohama introduces Advan Sport V107

New car buyers may have encountered the Yokohama Advan Sport V107 any time over the past couple of years, but Yokohama Rubber’s global flagship tyre is only now arriving in the aftermarket. As of spring 2022, Advan Sport V107 will be available in 30 sizes ranging from 305/35R23 111Y XL to 225/40ZR18 92Y XL. Yokohama Rubber will add new sizes during the year and expand the range to 80 SKUs (including original equipment tyres) by the end of 2022.

Two German manufacturers have selected the Yokohama Advan Sport V107 as an original equipment tyre for new and existing performance models. The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ wears the tyre in size 275/35R22 104Y, while the BMW X5M & X6M upgrade from the V105 to this latest-generation Advan tyre.

Yokohama congratulates Chelsea after Super Cup triumph

Yokohama-backed Chelsea FC secured more major silverware last week, with a victory at Belfast’s Windsor Park in the European Super Cup. In the first ever competitive fixture between the two teams, it sat all square at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes and no further goals were added in extra time. The Blues went on to lift the trophy for only the second time in the club’s history with a nail biting 6-5 penalty shootout victory.

Yokohama ends Chelsea shirt sponsorship

Yokohama has ended its Chelsea shirt sponsorship after “five very successful years”. However, the Japanese tyre manufacturer will now be the team's Official Global Tyre Partner. Mobile network Three has since been named as the new shirt sponsors in a three-year deal. Three’s logo will appear on all of Chelsea’s shirts from 2020/21, including Chelsea Women and Academy sides as well as the men’s team.
