World record for Formula E and Hankook tyres

Ahead of this weekend’s 2023 Hankook London E-Prix, British Formula E driver Jake Hughes set a new indoor land speed record in a modified Gen3 car. This ‘GenBeta’ prototype generates up to 400 KW and delivers it to the track via modified Hankook iON Race tyres. Hughes called upon this power to clock a new milestone of 135.9 mph (218.71 km/h) on a 346-metre indoor straight. Confirmation from an official Guinness World Records adjudicator ensures Formula E and Hankook will take their place in the famous book.

Recently, racer Leh Keen’s Porsche Taycan Turbo S was clocked by independent adjudicators at 102.6 mph inside the New Orleans Convention Center – a new indoor land speed record. Keen’s all-electric Taycan Turbo S has a maximum of 750 hp, with four-wheel drive to maximize grip, powerful carbon ceramic brakes and the ability to accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.6 seconds. And what’s more the record was set on the Taycan’s standard fitment original equipment (OE) tyres. But which tyres were used?

World’s fastest tractor features GKN Wheels

Ever wondered what tractor tyres and wheels go fastest? Telford-based GKN Wheels and Structures was one of the key partners in JCB’s recent tractor speed record and the tyres were supplied by BKT. Now you know. But the details are impressive. Following two successful runs at Elvington Airfield in York, the JCB Fastrac broke the world record for a tractor, achieving a peak speed of an incredible 153.771mph and an average of 135.191mph – making it a tractor tyre and wheel speed record too!
