Illegal, defective or under-inflated tyres caused 2,288 British car accidents between 2014 and 2018. Marking Road Safety Week (18-24 November), British technology firm and Michelin licensee Fit2Go TPMS reckons its Michelin Pressure Checker gadget could help to significantly cut those figures.

Pirelli has launched its Track Adrenaline UHP virtual tyre technician technology. Track Adrenaline pairs a mobile phone app with sensors inside P Zero Trofeo R tyres and a control box to put supercars through their paces on the track. The Track Adrenaline box is also equipped with a GPS unit to give precise geolocation and definition of racing line information.

Research conducted in the USA and commissioned by Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires found that while 88 per cent of young drivers can correctly identify the eye-roll emoji, only 51 per cent recognized the TPMS warning symbol.
