The Firestone Roadhawk 2 Enliten summer touring tyre will be available from January 2024. Manufacturer Bridgestone says the new tyre offers “best-in-class wet grip” as well as longer mileage and 10 per cent better fuel and energy-efficiency. The sequel to the cornerstone of Firestone's revamped car tyre range integrates Bridgestone’s Enliten technology. This reduces material consumption and tyre weight, while increasing wear resistance with Bridgestone's NanoPro-Tech high-silica compound. All this makes the Roadhawk 2 Enliten an “EV-ready tyre”: a tyre suitable for fitment on vehicles using and electric or conventional combustion engine powertrain. The tyre's initial range of 17-21” sizes will cover 90 per cent of sizes in the market, Bridgestone says. 16” sizes will join the Firestone Roadhawk 2 Enliten range in 2025 for a total of 112 size variations.

Firestone has announced its shortlist of eight acts from nearly 1,000 entries to make the final of its Road to the Main Stage competition. Eyre Llew, As December Falls, Lili Caseley, The Lutras, Little Brother Eli, The Escape Artist, Jennifer Kamikazi and Just Drive have been selected, with their fate now in the general public’s hands, who will decide the overall winner in a public vote on the tyre brand’s website between October 30 and November 12.

Tyre brand Firestone is giving unsigned music acts a chance to shine in front of huge new audiences – including a top UK festival slot – with its Road to the Main Stage competition. More than 2,500 entries have been recorded since 2015 and voters have cast more than 10,000 votes in the last two years. TV and radio presenter Abbie McCarthy returns for a third year as the Firestone Road to the Main Stage’s ambassador.
