It’s been raining a lot lately, and that is great news for tyre developers testing the wet performance of their latest products. Not so good if they’re trying to test tyre performance in the dry, and it would be better to go indoors in search of better weather. Continental has done precisely this.

The latest tyre to join the Falken Euroall Season line-up is “designed specifically for high-performance vehicles” with a focus on “good all-round winter performance,” Falken Tyre Europe tells us. The Falken Euroall Season AS220 Pro is available in 46 dimensions.

Having sold 18.5 million tyres last year and with revenues approaching £1 billion, Prinx Chengshan is well established as a tyre maker. The company is already present in the UK with its Austone and Fortune brands and in 2023 is launching its flagship Prinx range here. The first three tyre lines to arrive include two products for electric vehicles as well as an all-season tyre.

A recent survey has found that only six per cent of UK motorists can correctly identify a tyre’s load rating. Worse still, we’re only half as good at accomplishing this task as the Germans are. Thankfully, younger drivers offer hope that this may change in future.

Europe’s first dedicated all-season electric vehicle tyre has arrived. The Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV is now available, and manufacturer Apollo Tyres says it features a “range of advanced design features and materials.” Developed specifically for year-round use by battery electric vehicles and hybrids, Apollo created the tyre to deliver greater driving range while providing superior levels of grip and traction in all conditions – including ice and snow.

SUVs are increasingly popular vehicles to drive and the most popular tyre sizes in the general SUV market are the same for all-season tyres since there are no replacement wheels involved.  

Vredestein says it will debut a new tyre specifically developed for electric vehicles (EVs) later this year and has shared a few details about this upcoming all-season product. Apollo Tyres, which manufactures the Vredestein brand, is currently evaluating the tyre through computer simulation and at proving grounds around the world following a “major new research and development programme” that includes close collaboration with leading car makers.
